The Art of Bows

On Christmas Day I have always gone to my Grandma's house to have Christmas dinner to celebrate with her and her side of the family. As a child I remember running down stairs to see all the elaborately wrapped presents with bows as big (or bigger) than the actual present placed strategically under the tree in only a way that she would know as to keep all of us kids in suspense as to who got which gift. I didn't care that much about the ribbons and bows as a child but now that I am older, it is my favorite part of Christmas (or any holiday that involved gifts). Now, I am no where near as skilled as my Grandma or her best friend my Granny Annie, but I give it my best shot.
I have composed a list of ribbons and I have also included pictures of my favorite types of ribbons to use. At the end I will add a couple pictures of some of the bows that I have made this year for Christmas gifts!
My ALL time favorite place to get ribbon is Michaels - mostly because they have the biggest selection and they usually have amazing sales and you can get the ribbon for pretty cheap. I have gotten a couple that I have enjoyed from CVS Pharmacy after Christmas, but the quality and amount on the roll just wasn't cutting it for me, but I did use it in one of gifts this year (I will indicate which one below).

I LOVE these options for ribbon! I just love the simplicity of these. The nutcracker would be super cute for kids or anyone honestly.

I love wired ribbon mostly because the bow is easier to shape and it won't fall as easily. Glitter ribbon is just simply gorgeous, I mean who doesn't LOVE glitter especially when the tree lights hit it in just the right spot and then the package is shining?? The bigger the ribbon the more creative I like to be. I like to wrap the gift a couple times with the bigger ribbon because it typically has a fancier design.

Also, anything with deer print or heads, etc. are my weakness... I think that it is the prettiest and best for wrapping gifts for the men in your life or the more girly ones for anyone who loves a little bit of rustic chic charm at Christmas time.

Here are a few examples of a fancier bow that I did this year. The silver ribboned packages have the ribbon I bought from CVS Pharmacy. I used one whole roll of this to make that bow. I turned out super awesome and I couldn't be happier with it. It also has glitter snowflakes on it. I used this ribbon on my niece's birthday present because it was winter stormed themed (she just turned one)!
I hope you all enjoy this post and I hope that the ribbon information helps! Let me know what else you want to see and I can't wait to hear about your Christmas's.
